Flight 93 has gotten almost univesally fantastic reviews. I saw it myself and thought it was one of the most viscerally draining and emotional films I had ever seen
Does anyone think this film will have any chance come Oscar time? Aside from the usual things that would hold it back (released early in the year, no big name stars, etc.) do folks think the subject matter alone might make it diffcult for the film? Or do some think the opposite, that the subject matter gives it a leg up?
What, does Jack Bauer show up and terminate the terrorists this time? Does Flight 93 end up on a Lost style island, complete with polar bears and a big red button that must be pushed every XXX minutes?
Well not all spoilers involve plot you know. I’d not like to know about how the characters work, and the culmination if events that lead to the passengers taking over the plane. I don’t want to know how they do everything.
And are we talking about Flight 93 (the made-for-TV twabble) or United 93, the cinema verite masterpiece?
If we’re talking about United 93, I don’t expect it to win any Oscars. It all depends on how much people are talking about it during “Oscar Season” (Nov/Dec), and most movies released early in the year are long forgotten by then.
He, of course, is alluding to the little-known episode, The Twouble with Twibbles, a hastily-rewritten Star Trek TOS show that was originally penned by Elmer Fudd.
