United States and Israel are bombing Iran {for current/ongoing events, past/future have specific threads}

Summary

Yes, agreed. My main point was that he now loses an honesty contest with Iran. That’s a despicable thought.

Summary

“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Matthew 24:24

Summary

And Iran doesn’t even have to make up a competing story. Just say “we have no idea what this tosser’s talking about, that did not happen”.

Exactly.

Once again, THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR TRUMP BASHING.
At least two others with the iran-strikes-2026 tags and then dozens or more others.

So if it is not directly related to the Bombing & Straight, you don’t all need to say what a liar Trump is. Save it for the other threads about him.

I hid the 5 most recent problem posts. Please keep aware of the thread. @Frodo I think this is at least the second time in this thread you’ve done this.

FYI for @ParallelLines & @Aspenglow

Summary

When the only source of information regarding the Straight and the Bombing comes from a source(s) that is known to lie outright, then how is it not directly related? It’s just stating a reminder of facts. If that’s forbidden, there’s really no point in continuing this discussion. Nobody’s going to just post news updates about the situation and just pretend that information is coming from trustworthy sources and can be discussed at face value.

You think we needed 6 posters saying it 6 different ways. That does not add to the thread. Also do not argue moderation in thread.

Moderating:

That is 100% against the rules.
I think you know better.
I’ll be kind and hide your post instead of issuing a warning.

Do you believe Iran when they say they have 60% refinement of Uranium?

Why? Does Trump say otherwise?

“I tend to believe Iran over Trump” ≠ “I tend to believe Iran.”

Anyone happen to notice that right in the middle of an active naval blockade the Secretary of the Navy was unceremoniously fired today?

Wild conjecture on my part. He and others pushed back on bombing Iran’s infrastructure and wiping out civilizations.

I doubt there were scrupels on Phelan’s side involved (original German cite, probably paywalled):

Phelan had neither served in the military nor held a civilian leadership role within the armed forces before U.S. President Donald Trump nominated him as undersecretary of defense in late 2024. He was a major donor to Trump’s campaign and the founder of the investment firm Rugger Management LLC.

The departure of billionaire Phelan, who is said to have close ties to Trump, is part of a sweeping shake-up of personnel at the Pentagon under Hegseth. Just on April 2, the Secretary of Defense had dismissed Army Chief of Staff Randy George without giving a reason. According to insiders, this decision was linked to tensions between Hegseth and Army Under Secretary Daniel Driscoll.

Much more likely that Phelan wasn’t sufficiently loyal to Hegseth, being a low-grade flunky of Trump. Plus not moving fast enough for Trump’s and Hegseth’s tastes on fleet expansion.

Multiple sources told CNN there was tension for months between Phelan and Hegseth, who believed Phelan was moving too slowly on implementing shipbuilding reforms and was also irked by Phelan’s direct communication with Trump, which Hegseth viewed as an attempt to bypass him. Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg also wanted to take control of major responsibilities for shipbuilding and navy acquisitions, a job that would typically be within Phelan’s purview.

I asked a simple question. Do you believe Iran when they say they have 60% refinement of uranium?

@Magiver - I don’t know where you’re going with this repeated line of questioning, but it seems it would apply to either of the speculation threads, not the current event one. No warning of course, but please take it to said threads or make a good case for it being here for the immediate, current ongoing conflict.

It’s fair to speculate on the veracity of Trump’s statements of fact and if such can be relied on for accurately reporting current events considering the multiple times he’s released statements that were immediately contradicted by the words and actions of Iran.

Speculation on Phelan’s firing so far is within the scope of the fuzzy bounds of the thread but since all we have is speculation at this point, probably better to not make much of a deal about it until we have more to work with. It’s entirely speculative at this point, with half of it having nothing to do with the OP. Though feel free to spin off your own thread, or to take it to one of the Trump administration threads.
