United States and Israel are bombing Iran

Footage of the first manned air to air kill by an F35: Israeli plane shoots down YAK130

It dovetails with what Paul Krugman is saying right now in his Substack video:

Don’t even dare to dream about that: never going to happen.

Trump says he should be able to pick the new Iranian leader. And he says Khameni’s son is an unacceptable choice.

Not sure how this is going to play out but I don’t see any way the senior clerics will be taking Trump seriously on this subject.

Can you even paint a silhouette on an F-35, or would that ruin the special stealth coating?

As I said, he wants to Venezuela Iran.

Detailed summary of actions so far up to day 6 of attack. Far beyond the scope of this thread if interested.

It’s like him and the Iranians are on a competition to see who can pull off the dumber maneuvers.

“We are gonna bomb civilian targets in the Gulf States, burning any last shreds of goodwill they still had for us.”

“Oh, yeah? Well then, I will go ahead and spit in the face of the protestors I’m hoping will eventually finish off the regime.”

“Oh, you will? In that case, we will vilify our Azeri population as a fifth column before bombing Azerbaijan.”

Israel was expecting and preparing for 150 Iranian missiles a day; so far we are at about 200 total.

(Hebrew article)

The latest wave of Iranian missiles appears to have included more cluster warheads.

I’m seeing various reports, such as this one, pointing out that multiple US military bases in the region are taking hits from missiles and drones, with at least one blogger I read (can’t assess credibility) claiming the damage is so extensive it’s destroying billions of dollars’ worth of decades of investment in the facilities.

ETA: Another link from CNN:

Senior cleric in Iran is calling for Trump’s blood.

Iran’s foreign minister ruled out negotiating with Trump. (The formatting is from the original.)

Mods: I put these two here because they’re actual consequences of the attacks, not speculative. If they should be in the other thread, please move this post.

Interesting–from WaPo this morning. I guess this means Donnie & Vlad aren’t going to the Prom together?

Russia is providing Iran intelligence to target U.S. forces, officials say

The targeting information has included the locations of American warships and aircraft in the Middle East, the officials said.

Russia is providing Iran with targeting information to attack American forces in the Middle East, the first indication that another major U.S. adversary is participating — even indirectly — in the war, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence.

The assistance, which has not been previously reported, signals that the rapidly expanding conflict now features one of America’s chief nuclear-armed competitors with exquisite intelligence capabilities.

Since the war began Saturday, Russia has passed Iran the locations of U.S. military assets, including warships and aircraft, said the three officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity.

The Russian Embassy in Washington did not respond to a request for comment. Moscow has called for an end to the war, which it labeled an “unprovoked act of armed aggression.”

Makes me wonder if Putin has been waiting for a moment like this. It was just a matter of time before trump topped all his previous stupid blunders on the world stage.

Waiting for, and likely enough encouraging.

That Iranian school blown up was likely from a US strike:

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-investigation-points-likely-us-responsibility-iran-school-strike-sources-say-2026-03-06/

Was this worth it? How many more blown-up schools and dead civilians will we have? Whether from carelessness, callousness, incompetence, or malevolence? Whatever the benefits of this war (of which I’m extremely skeptical so far), the costs are, at the very least, several hundred dead civilians and likely much more, in addition to US dead (and treasure expended).

Now Trump is saying that he wants “Unconditional Surrender” from Iran.
That doesn’t quite fit with their continuous denials of this being a war does it?.

Doesn’t fit with the narrative that the regime change is complete, either.

It’s current news, and the speculation is mostly on the side reporting their intents, you’re good. Thank you for your attention and efforts. And as I mentioned in one of the ATMB threads, a general “thanks” to all trying to keep the associated threads on topic.

You don’t understand: if they surrender inconditionally this whole sorry affair willl not become a war. It is a very generous offer he is making there, they should be thankful.

Otherwise, should they not surrender inconditionally, it will be an act of aggression on their part, and then he will have to defend the USA because they will have declared war. Then he won’t need Congress for this, and it will all be their fault.

The only thing I still don’t understand is who is supposed to surrender. The USA has killed every person who could have claimed the authority to do so and threatens to kill every one who tries to obtain that authority in the future. Babale tried to explain it to me, but I obviousy did not get it.

My mind cannot begin to probe the shallower fathoms of that profound strategic mind, that stable genius, Donald Trump.

If only we had a Department of Defense to respond to this agression… :man_facepalming:

Interesting video I came across of Pahlavi speaking on LGBT rights. I’m starting to see why Trump doesn’t like him, although I wonder if the people who called him a “Clown” Prince think he seems particularly clownish in this video.
