My wife’s iPhone 4 was stolen a few weeks after she got it. She did not have MobileMe or insurance, so I don’t know any way to recover the phone or to buy another one cheap.
Her mother is eligible for an upgrade from T-Mobile, but just wants a really basic phone. So we bought my mother-in-law a T-Mobile go-phone, and now my wife is going to take advantage of her mother’s upgrade eligibility.
So my question is, what T-Mobile smartphone would be a good replacement for an iPhone? And can it be unlocked (legally?) to work with AT&T’s network?
Need answer fast, bacause my wife and MIL are meeting me in an hour to go to the T-Mobile store.
Check on line, just about any of them can be unlocked. Plug the phone’s model name and “how to unlock” into a google search and you can find out whether or not any particular model can be unlocked.
However, be aware - you will not get 3G on AT&T with a phone made for T-Mobile. The phone will make and receive voice calls, and you can get data over EDGE. But you won’t get 3G speeds.
