This is a great idea, but as far as I can tell (okay, I admit, I skimmed this a little), none of my fellow guests have really utilized it yet.
I, on the other hand, would like to. I saw Shaun of the Dead weeks after everyone else and I could never find the Shaun thread(s) that must be somewhere in Cafe Society. I’ve lurked around here for a long time and I love to read what the Dopers think of a movie or TV show that had an impact on me.
So… Can someone search Cafe Society for “Shaun of the Dead” for me, please?
Thanks!!
Nolan, do you have any idea how many TMI threads we have? This is the place I learned about the cartoonist who was heavily into gynophagia. One of the Dopers had a co-worker who consented to be the guest of honor at a canibal’s dinner. There was the infamous thread on pimples, pustles, boils, and their contents. More than one thread about toilets. Threads about the stuff that goes into toilets. Threads about stuff found in toilets that shouldn’t be there. Threads about farting. Threads about sex in wheelchairs. Threads about sex out of wheelchairs, in public, scaring the squirrels. Threads about the most disgusting thing you ever ate. Threads about suicides and murders. Threads about – brace yourself – fuzzy bunny rabbits!!!
In other words, you have to be amazingly outrageous to top what’s gone before. There’s a very good chance your question has already been asked and answered.
If you still don’t want to speak publically, you can e-mail a Doper and ask in private. Some of those contributing to this thread might be willing to volunteer to do your search.
well, I was just perusing the archives and was surprised that the discussion of Cecil’s search for “the whole nine yards” didn’t include a certain interpretation… Perhaps it has already been discussed at length on these archives already. So, I shall take you up on that gracious offer and ask - where the heckaroo is that thread?
Let me guess: The interpretation you’re thinking of is ammo belts on fighter planes? It seems like every single new thread on that column is suggesting ammo belts. Interestingly, it actually seems to be the best-supported hypothesis at this point, though from the Korean War, not WWII as is usually suggested.
Anyone want to search me up links to all the Lost threads in Cafe society? Someone recommended them as particularly sharp, and the couple on the first pages do seem interesting. So I’m wondering if I can get links to them all.
