Guests don’t pay any money for the site.
Members pay $14.95
Charter Members pay half that. They signed up when the board first went pay to post and they keep their halfprice rate as long as they pay up on time every year.
Paid members also can get, for a small fee, a custom title underneath their username.

Also guests have the banner ads. Members don’t.
And I think only members can use the search function.
And members can post a photo in their profile.

Yes they can. Originally that was true, but not anymore.
Access to the board’s search function is largely irrelevant anyway, since Google does a much better job of it.

I’m a Charter Member and proud to say I’ve been frustrated by the Search function since 1999!
