Up in the night...

01:30…just plain insomnia. And the damn alarm is set for 05:30.
Maybe Doping for a while will tire my eyes or something.

I forgot to wash underwear today, and in the interests of having clean undies tomorrow, I’m waiting for the washing machine to finish so I can put the clothes into the dryer and go to bed already. This is the second time I’ve dragged myself out of a warm cozy bed and the spin still isn’t done, so I’m just sitting here, cold but awake. But it’s only midnight here.

just not sleeping…the usual every 3-4 weeks of not sleeping for a week. OTC stuff doesn’t work. It could be because I’m kicking a stomach thing and might be feeling hungry and my body woke me up. I’m not brave enough yet to eat something though. So I’m fixing some computer stuff that I don’t have time to fix during normal hours.

Just curious susan what does administration do in a case like that about grades? do over? across the board Bs?

On preview: ooooo laundry, good idea.

It was suggested to me (by tech, not my chair), that I extend the deadline. However, that’s really not feasible in this situation. I e-mailed all of the students and encouraged them to start early, to go to campus if they were having trouble from home, and then, pretty much every minute that I haven’t been teaching, I’ve been at my laptop unlocking and restarting exams, cutting and pasting students’ answers, and the like. Mercifully the exam closed a minute ago. I have about 5 more that were e-mailed to me by students whose frustration with multiple problems was dangerously high. I’ll need to grade those differently. There are about 10 fresh ones to grade online.

I can’t imagine waiting until 11:34 to begin a 2-part exam that the instructor said was taking people 3 hours, but okay. My spouse blew off some big exams in college and says that hearing me rant about it is karmic payback for those youthful choices.

Mr. S has been having to get up around 3:30 am to get to work (he’s in training on day shift, which starts at 5:30 am, but eventually he’ll be on PMs, 1:45-10:15, much better). When he gets up, I wake up. Today it actually does me some good because I have a big deadline today and I can use the extra hours at the computer to make the local, but early, UPS drop-off time.

In a few minutes I’ll quit Doping and actually get to work.

Drinking wine and watching Doctor Who dvds.
