Update: successfully moved to UK!

Just wanted to drop a line to say that I made it and to thank you all for your very helpful advice.

Now that I am here, what should I absolutely not miss out on doing?

I must report that I have already begun, mostly unintentionally, changing the cadence and intonation of my speech in imitation, I suppose, of those around me – here at Oxford there is a marvelous cacophany of sounds, some wondrous, some less so

I already have an essay set for Tuesday, so I suppose I should head off.

Thanks again, and I eagerly await your suggestions.

Daphne

PS. QuizCustodet, I signed up for Quiz Bowl, but no email as yet. What is up with that, eh?

You’re coming to the Londope in November, aren’t you?

I really liked Oxford a lot. I got to spend just one day in Oxford last summer (my only visit to the UK), and barely scratched the surface. My ancestors, the Morrells, were once prominent brewers, lawyers, and clerics there, and it irked me that I didn’t have more time to explore.

I could easily live there.

Good luck, and enjoy yourself.

A is for the Ashmolean
B is for Blackwells

I’m not sure whether to thank your ancestors for the many wonderful pints of their brews that I downed over the years, or shake my fist at them for the hours of study lost!

(Good times…)

C for the Cherwell, on which you should punt.

D for the Deer, that you’d better not hunt.

E for the Eagle, where Inklings drank beer.

I seem to be playing this game alone, so I’ll stop after these ones.
