Hi. I do a lot of intensive stuff such as 3d rendering, video rendering and of course gaming. I currently have a Nvidia GTX 650 Ti Boost and it is good but I am thinking of upgrading to a GTX 1050 Ti.
Due to bad experiences, I am not interested in AMD and the 1050 Ti is the right price. What I am wondering is if the increase in power is significant and noticeable and hence the upgrade is worth it.
I recently upgraded to the 1050 ti from a 750 (non-ti). Some games like Far Cry 4 I barely got 30 fps with the 750, now I get 60 fps with higher settings. That’s worth it to me since I only have a 300W power supply and I’m not comfortable changing it out myself.
The 6-series to the 10-series is a significant jump. I went from a 670 to a 1070 and it’s worlds apart. Whether it’s worth it for you depends on a number of factors, like what games you tend to play and what resolution you play them at, plus your own financial situation.
For an “average gamer”, I would say, yes, upgrade.
