Ok, I have this friend… and he’s going to type his story and question right here
Ok, I’m used to downloading my music off a P2p program. Lately, with some CD’s (less than jake - Anthem, Thrice - Artist in the Ambulance), all the songs are really just the same thing with a clip from every song. I suspect that they are all the audio samples on the official sites put together on one thing. Now, i tryd to download many versions of each song from each cd, and they all came out the same damn thing. Why the hell is this???
Now, for something relating to the name of this post.
I admit… I’m going to have to purchase these CD’s. However, how do you upload the music onto the pc, so i can listen to it through winamp instead of taking up one of my CD-ROM drives or my portable CD player and have to wear headphones. I bought one of my friends’ bands cd and I tried toupload it onto my computer, however its not the same as uploading movies or such that, forsay, my friend burns onto a cd to put onto my computer. Usually I can just copy/paste such files onto my hard drive. But for songs… They show up as 1kb shortcuts and i cant copy/paste the select file.
Any suggestions??
Help would be greatle appreciated.
Ok, my friend is off now. It’s me again, thanks for any help concerning his(our (about uploading… that is)) questions.
I second this. I used free rip this weekend to turn a bunch of songs from cds into my own soundtrack(well, all right, I wanted to make a collection of songs “used” in my fanfics so I wouldn’t have to keep putting the cds in to hear them. Happy to have gotten the dirty secret out of me? ) , and it’s really easy to use with good results.
I’m gonna have to second what Rex said. EAC with LAME is the BEST way to import songs from cd. When you compress your music you have two choices. Either you have a ‘constant’ bit rate or a ‘variable’ bit rate. The variable bit rate is going to be your best bet. Great quality for a relatively small size. EAC with LAME is the encoder for doing that. The program also auto corrects for jittering and rough spots on the cds. This helps eliminate the pops and etc on mp3’s. Best of all, it’s FREE!!!
Here is a step by step guide for using EAC. The site is much more helpful then I could ever be. Just follow their simple instructions and you should be fine. Or if you have anymore questions just let me know.
