I have a whole bunch of cartoons which I’m analyzing as part of this paper. I got them all (all old ones, btw, from 2000) from here Do I cite this if the cartoons are included in the text of the paper?
Also: would I cite a ‘Q&A’ like the one here the same way I would cite a chat/TV interview transcript?
According to The Bluebook, 16th ed., page 122, and 125, this looks like a combination citation of a television broadcast and interview. You should “include the title and institutional affiliation, if any, of the interviewee,” and you must also provide the name of the interviewer. The television show is to be placed in italics; films should be placed in large and small caps.
So I suspect the page you offer might be cited as:
Newshour with Jim Lehrer, interview by Jim Lehrer with Mark Shields, syndicated columnist, and Paul Gigot, columnist for the Wall Street Journal(PBS television broadcast, November 7, 2000).
However, DO NOT merely take my word for it. I haven’t written a paper without mis-punctuating and otherwise screwing up a citation yet.
For any that find that one too easy, maybe you can chew on a similar problem I faced in my first year psychology class.
How do I cite text I took from a book that exists in a persistant world virtual reality, signed only by a fictional character?
I eventually just listed the title of the book, fictional author name, and the server’s network information. I really enjoyed the look on the prof’s face when I asked it that was alright
