URL Purchase Price Offer

Hello, I emailed the owner of a URL who’s owned it for over a year and hasn’t done anything with it (no website, etc) and asked if he would be interested in selling it. He responsed and asked me to make an offer. So here’s my question, what would a reasonable amount be to offer? I’m a fresh out of high school student, and thus have limited funds. The URL also expires in 2005. So how much would be fair to offer (I doubt the URL is in high demand)? Thanks!

I’m assuming you don’t want to tell us the URL? Well, that said, I think we’ll need some information here to decide what it’d be worth (worth, I suppose being determined by the potential earning power that a site with this name could have).

Is it really long? As long as, say, www.sixdegreesofnothing.com or longer?

Is it an acronym? If so, is it a common one? A long one?

Is it a phone number? (I swear to god, there was a company in California whose URL was their freakin’ phone number. And it wasn’t like 1-800-TWO-WRDZ, it was all numbers. :smack: )

You have other options. .Some little small country no one has every heard of. .tk comes to mind.

I’d say it depends. Is it going to be something that’s big and instant traffic like Business.com or Help.com or Windows.com? Or is it just a domain you happen to want?

No, it’s a url that few would think of (imo). It’s not too along… It’s along the lines of TownFolk.com (Slightly longer actually, but same format, if that makes sense).

along=long

and GMRyujin, it’s merely a URL I want, I doubt it’s in high demand.
