I remember reading that the flags were wired so they’d stand out, but there’s no way they’d have sent all-metal flags; that would have been unnecessary weight, and they were counting every ounce that went on a LM.
Here’s lots of technical info regarding the moon flags. Scroll down a bit to get to the technical aspects part.
The most definitive answer as to whether the Apollo 11 flag was knocked down by the LM’s liftoff blast is that Buzz Aldrin says that he saw it fall over. That’s pretty definitive to me, a first-hand, creditable source! The only reason its not widely known is that it was downplayed in '69 as it was something of a ‘killjoy’.
Oh you people…that whole scene that you’re talking about, was filmed on a set in Hollywood, California. For gosh sakes, one of the janitors could set the flag upright, if need be…
You lying dog, you’re part of the conspiracy!
Everyone knows the fake footage was created at Area 51.
That’s exactly what I thought when I read “US Flag on Moon question.”
That’s what I was told to say, and that’s my story and I’m sticken’ to it.
