US Gameboy Advance SP in China - power problems?

I’ve been tasked with buying a Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP for a tyke in mainland China. Since the SP has a rechargable battery, that suggests to me that I will need a China-compatable power adapter to charge it. I also know both countries use the same two-prong outlets, but the US is on 110V and that China is on 220V.

I think I can get away with using an American-sold, 110V Gameboy Advance SP and tossing this power adapter into the box, but I’m not completely sure – since I have no way to test the setup before it gets delivered, I’d like to get all the technical issues ironed out ahead of time. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find anything that documents the power needs of the SP, so I need to ask the electrical-saavy gaming Dopers for a hint here.

Would the afformentioned adapter be the only thing I need? Or would I also need a 220V-compatable Gameboy to go with it?

Nope, that’s all you’ll need.
According to the back of my ac adaptor, it puts out 5.2V DC 320mA.
BTW, the GBA SP and DS use the same adaptor.

I can ask my Nintendo engineer buddy for certain.

Okay, that helps a lot.

He said that all you’d need is the ac adaptor.

Oh, you know that Lik-Sang is in Hong Kong right?
You can just order a 220V GBA SP from them too.

GBAs aren’t region locked like most other consoles.

I wasn’t sure where Lik-Sang was, so thanks for the tip.

But I’ll order a US GBA, just to avoid paying extra for the 220V version.
