USA Today --- Liberal or Conservative

Is USA Today a liberal or a conservative paper?

I saw the thread title and was preparing to write a loooong dissertation about how relative those words are, and then go into progressives thruout history and what progress was eventually made. Damn man, I was revved up.

Now I’ve read the OP, and the only words I can think so say are: Who the fuck has internet access and still bothers to read USA Today? They’re completely McNews. Who cares whether USA Today is conservative or liberal? It’s plastic news for plastic people. 'Nuff said.

Its sports media columnist slammed Rush Limbaugh. So it must be part of the liberal media, or at least the dreaded liberal sports media. Right?

They also came out against the Iditarod dog races. I’m a liberal, but I now use the paper for a doormat in the hotels that leave it for you to read.

I read the USA Today. We get it free at work every day along with the Post Gazette. I usually read them both particularly on Mondays. I don’t read the paper on the weekend and since the USA T doesn’t have weekend editions it is a convenient place to look to see what I might have missed. I find the USA T to be pretty middle of the road: To the left on social issues and the right on economics. What journalists usually refer to as “moderate”. They reprint columnists Dowd, Krugman, and Will. I would call that fairly balanced. Pun intended.

I just want to go on record as wishing that the VBulletin software allowed people to put little McCharts in their posts.

Mmmmm. I like it. Even the pit could be improved through the use of McCharts. Imagine… if you will…

“Now, if you’ll turn your attention to the pink section of this pie chart, you’ll see that his head is also full of 49.5% brain. Now, on first glance this may seem to balance off the 49.5% shit content, but as you can see, there is a one 1% random differential that can often send this balance careening. I call this the X factor.”

Hmm, that graphic made me a bit uncomfortable… a little too phallic I think…

Are you trying to suggest that conservatives have bigger penises?

If we want to think in terms of what the paper would be if it were a registered voter it would probably be that person that knows just enough to toss in their $.005 into any political discussion, but only understands maybe 30% of what is actually going on. In other words, just the right combination of information (while still remaining uninformed) to be an incredibly dumbed down voter.

A little like asking whether my cat is liberal or conservative.

Jesus you people are harsh. How many daily American newspapers cover national and international events better than the USAT? A dozen? Half that? Pittsburgh is one of the few cities with competing dailys and the USAT is more informative than the Tribune Review.

As for the OP, I agree with 2sense.

As for this. . .

Yes & No. Yes, we do, but there are many females in our ranks as well,

I read USA Today on my iPad. It’s got a nice app. When I want a quick overview of the top stories, it’s great.

It’s zombie USA Today!
