User Kaitlyn has been banned

Well, that’s not what he did. For the vast majority of his time here, he presented himself as a somewhat unremarkable white guy, which is most likely the truth.
Then a few months ago, he outed himself as a cross-dresser and changed his user name to Kaitlyn in a sort of “Kaitlyn Comes Out” thread. Kaitlyn then spun out of control into a transgendered Korean phase, then crashed and burned yesterday.
As far as I can remember, the deception only lasted a couple of months.

NOTE: There were several threads started by Kaitlyn that I didn’t read, so there may be some information that I’m missing.

From what I gather, Can of Pineapples said (not here) that he/she was not a sock of a CURRENTLY REGISTERED member. Which means that he or she was either a returning banned user, or someone whose guest membership expired.

Sure, but there’s a difference between taking a fanciful username and inventing a whole persona. I don’t think anyone on this board really thinks you’re Mandy Patinkin wielding a sword, looking for the Six-Fingered Man.

Number Six/Kaitlyn, on the other hand, invented a whole mythology about him/herself, and in the process, trivialized a good bit about what transgendered people actually go through. Not everyone has an understanding spouse and boss or has an easy time transitioning.

Think of it this way. Let’s say that I claim to be Jewish. (FTR, I am.) I answer questions about Judaism and sing its praises. And let’s further say that someone decides to convert to Judaism on the basis of what I’m saying. I then confess to lying about being Jewish; that I’m really (insert some religion) and, in truth, I know nothing about being Jewish. The person still converts. Am I a hero for bringing this person to Judaism? No, I’m a lying sack who played with others’ emotions for their own amusement. The story still works out in the end, but that doesn’t excuse my actions.

I think, in the end, that’s what the deal is here. Just because this person may have given hope to some people doesn’t mitigate the fact that they were playing with us from the get-go. And that’s inexcusable.

I’d like to state for the record that I don’t really suffer from “Munchausen by Internet” but I did pretend to once.

What’s the matter, Cliffy? Afraid some lies are going to come back and bite you in the ass? It becomes our business when/if the mods decide to make it our business. Not a second sooner.

…or someone who didn’t sign up when we went pay to play.

Didn’t this happen recently, with someone in GD claiming to be a recent convert to Islam? It turned out he had hijacked someone’s computer and was posting under their user name.

I think we’ve all fudged things here and there. I know I have, for anonymity reasons. But, at the end of the day, I am still a 30-something straight, non-transgendered woman married to a disabled husband with two kids.

I think, bottom line, Kaitlyn was an attention whore. And I find that very sad, to be so insecure.

Actually it was someone who really did recently convert to Islam, got her ass handed to her in GD and then claimed that she really was a Moslem but someone else posted in the GD thread to make her look bad.

So maybe “Kaitlyn” was really some homeless guy who sat next to Number Six in the library and changed the username and posted a whole bunch of garbage to make Number Six look bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

Too bad Kaitlyn didn’t try that explanation.

Oh, is that what happened? I missed that part. How did we figure that out?

If that were the case, how did they use the Search funtion? A Registered User would have had to do the searching. Which means, if the Mods can’t match that IP, this User emailed someone else and had them do the dirty work. Or made their sock on a machine at some cafe somewhere or whatever. Either way, that Registered User is a chickenshit, IMO.

she told us:

But you said Sarah herself was the one who converted to Islam, and then blamed it on someone hacking her user name. Did I misunderstand you?

I don’t see anything about being a “recent” convert, but there is this:

posted after the admission that her username had been hijacked.

Here Katlyin says,

“Nearly everything I ever posted here about any aspect of my personal life before late December of last year was a lie, mostly made up out of whole cloth, with certain elements borrowed from my brother’s life. The lies weren’t even consistent with each other, as has been pointed out here. As in my real life, I was attempting to pass myself off as something I wasn’t, and doing a poor job of it.”

Only the guilty should be worried, eh, Ashtar? Go fuck yourself.

My thinking exactly, Dooku.

Sheesh… I sure bought it.

If anybody’s wondering, I’m not actually an elf.
:frowning:

Or a liar.

Am I misremembering, or was all the Kaitlyn hoopla part of the reason that Eve decided to stop posting?
