Using map website for trip planning

I can use google maps to see that driving from SE Minnesota to the Two Medicine campground in Glacier NP is ~19.5 hours.

Is there a way to semi-automatically break this trip up? I can eyeball a half way point and see where a good stopover place is, but that is trial and error.

I’d like to input “12 - 13 hours, place with a motel”

Is it still hard to find vacancies in ND? Or has the drop in oil prices made that easier?
Thinking of the SD (I90) route anyway – but if I take 212 from ~Sturgis, there isn’t a lot of civilzation.

I think roadtrippers.com lets you do that:
Road Trip Route Planner, Map and Trip Guides | Roadtrippers

Or once you’re on the road, the mobile Google Maps app lets you search along your route (within a radius). That doesn’t make it easy to pre-book, of course

That shows points of interest along the way, but even if I pick a motel, it does not display the driving time to that, and no way to break up a trip as far as I can tell.

Still useful, but not quite what I want.

Don’t think this is a zombie yet. I still had to eyeball a possible break point, but when I did and hit “add to trip” it did split it up and give me both times.

So thanks for the suggestion
