The mods seem to believe so, and they have access to your IP address.
And since when an IP adress is fixed? Not mine, for sure. I am not Smart.

Depends. Right now it’s 200.190.184.159. But it changes everytime I log on, cause it’s a dial-up, free internet service.
Couple of possibilities - it could be that your dialup number only has a limited number of IPs it assigns, and your IPs were always within the same, limited range, and they figured the odds were that when one poster quit posting with IPs in that range and another showed up in the same range that it was the same person.
Or maybe the cookies these forums leave on your computer can be used to identify you.
There is another possibility, but I don’t know enough about it to elaborate on it.
If you really aren’t smartt, I’d appeal to the moderators to make some kind of statement to that effect. Smartt posted some really stupid stuff and was probably a bald-faced liar, I definitely wouldn’t want people to think I was him. Even if he wasn’t such an unlikable poster, it looks bad when a person gives up on one name and comes back with a new one, pretending to be new.
How so? I erase all the cookies after disconnecting. That’s why I have to re-type my username and password. I don’t trust cookies, and I only have em enables cause I buy stuff online.
