Nukes will just piss off the rest of the world, and harm the planet. The only way to take out these fanatic groups is to assasinate them with a sniper.

I agree that using nuclear weapons is a very bad idea. i guess assassination would be a little better, but isn’t that illegal? Do laws apply during war? I feel most of the US is willing to do anything for some revenge, I think this will just lead into a viscious cycle of death and destruction. War is bad. Peace is good.

As an aside: I believe that the only purpose a nuclear weapon should ever serve, is to provide a system of nuclear deterence, and even if fired upon by a nuke, there is no reason to respond with another nuke.
And a nuke is legal?

They’re fanatics for a reason–killing one, or a dozen, or a hundred only created a vacuum soon filled by more fanatics.
To the OP, yes, using nukes is a f***ing stupid idea–the entire nation, race, or religion cannot possibly be guilty.
So, between those two extremes, what to do?

Using nukes will invite terrorist nuclear retaliation.
