Using Nuts

Every year, for Christmas, my aunt and uncle send something from Sunnyland Farms. Included with the nuts or chocolate or fruit (this year it’s chocolate, with nuts) is a booklet.

Even though I’ve seen the booklet every Christmas for five or six years not, it never fails to amuse me. This year I’ve learned about:

Storage of Raw Nuts Nuts must be kept cold, either in the refrigerator or freezer. Before storing, pack all nuts in clean, dry containers with tight lids…The secret of storing both in-shell nuts and nut meats is to KEEP THEM COLD…Experiments indicate there is a slight loss in quality of nuts stored in the refrigerator but in the freezer there is no loss in quality.

No no no no no no no no. I’ll do many things with my nuts. But they will never ever go in the freezer. I’ll suffer the quality loss gladly.
