Today’s ally is the nation Trump pisses off tomorrow.
not so sure–
Not in my backyard! You can have it.
Damn. We’ll have to cancel the plans for that shipyard behind your house.
Wow, a legit Nimby sighting.
Port Newark would probably be happy to get it.
Not my backyard, but also not too far.
Those two TIE fighters look pretty beat up, too.
I got a feeling some Thai street vendors are going to be making good money.
And also the local equivalent of Walgreens or CVS if the reports on basic toiletries are accurate
I hope I can ask this question without being a jerk.
Given the thousands of mostly young, mostly male sailors who have been at sea for the part of the year, it seems likely to me that at least a few of them will not behave well when set free in a resort community. How likely are we to see Violent crime from some of these sailors? Have we already seen it?
First, not soldiers.
Sailors and Marines.
2nd, violence is not likely to be high at all, though drunk and disorderly is likely.
Sorry, I edited that before seeing your post. I know better! I am not sure whether it was a slip of the tongue or a voice typing error.
edit: I just saw that it showed up twice in the post, and I know I said “sailors” the first time. Damn you, Siri!
Hmm, yeah. That article I linked about South Korea offering to build Burkes for the US was before TFG’s recent decision to dramatically scale back US involvement in exercises in South Korea and gush about what a good relationship he has with Kim Jong Un. I wonder how they feel about the offer now.
Looking at the Lincoln coming into port does show one thing the administration is really good at - algae growth.
Even after long sea periods, violence is minimal typically. But sailors being sailors and after an extra long time at sea. Drinks will be drunk to an excess.
Guys and probably gals will be in trouble for reporting back to duty still drunk.
Professional prostitutes will probably get groped in bars. They will also find a lots of happy to pay sailors.
The sailors will also try to explore the city a bit and shop at a lot of stores looking for discounts.
And as said above, the local pharmacies will probably sell a lot of toiletries, not something so common normally.
If “street vendors” is a euphemism, it might not be so easy.
Ninja’d dammit!
Is that typical? How about the amount of rust? Is that normal?
They’re definitely aware of the risks:
No, they don’t normally look this way after a WestPac
I wonder if some members of the crew might ask if they could be discharged from Thailand, even if they have to fly home at their own expense?
