During the recent pandemic, I changed the address on my drivers licence online to an address in a different state so as to be able to cross the closed state border. No arguments from the Vehicle licensing body but when I renewed my gun license it clearly confused the sh1t out of someone so it came with no address on it.
You’d have Black people control. Just the excuse they’d have been longing for. And who would stop them? The powerless President? Toothless Congress? Uncle Thomas the Judge?
Black people control is what our current gun laws are all about. Stand your ground is kill a black person if they make you feel uncomfortable. White terror over blacks is the entire reason the NRA exists.
The US constitution and laws only apply if you live in the USA, of course. Extraterritoriality will only be used to eliminate (the right kind of) terrorists. With cruise missiles. So beware!
Apart from that, I just wanted to close my depressing reading of this thread (165 posts are enough, too few new arguments) mentioning that as seen from Europe the USA resemble more and more a failed state. My wife said so this morning too, reading the New York Times on line and seeing the faces of the victims. I agreed. Just for the record: we are no radicals. Well at least she isn’t.
It’s not illegal to lend your car to someone else and you’re not going to end up in jail for possession of a car that’s not registered to you (assuming that car isn’t stolen).
Most people also tend to buy one car every couple of years. Firearms enthusiasts are buying and selling and trading guns from their collections a lot more frequently than that.
Also there are far, far more guns in the US than cars - which should probably highlight just how many guns there are in the US.
But web search fails to find an actual going concern making the WEE Tactical, or a gun shop selling it.
The pacifier image is a giveaway. No advertiser is dumb enough to think a child is going to ask their parent to gift them something advertised with a pacifier.
And no gunmaker advertises shooting products, intended for use by minors, with a skull and crossbones.
As for the politics of whomever launched the parody advertisement and web page, it is hard to be sure. They could be trying to make fun of the pro-gun enthusiast viewpoint. But they could be trying to show how gullible the other side is. Or it could be a non-political effort to get attention.
I’m going to guess that MA Senator Markey has also been wrong before, but this – to me – makes the whole thing look as legitimate as it is disgusting (3pp PDF):
But, to be honest, your skepticism just adds to the impact of this product and stresses the point that we’re way out there into ‘totally unbelievable’ territory on this issue.
But that doesn’t change the fact that we have a reasonably efficient and functional bureaucracy that handles something like 100 million cars and at least tens of millions of transactions per year.
Title guns. Register guns. Require licenses. Licenses require training. That sounds very familiar (cars, if I must be ham-fisted). And it would go a long way to preventing the straw man purchases that feed the urban violence. It would probably do less to combat mass killings.
I’m not anti-gun. But I’m not willing to throw up my hands and declare the problem unsolvable.
The encounter outside the school tests the strategy of police protection. What were their rules of engagement? A guy with a gun approaches the school, what were they supposed to do?
Here the press describes the encounter but doesn’t say how it was handled:
“There was several law enforcement that engaged the suspect, but he was able to make entry into the school where he did go into several classrooms and unfortunately, he did fire his firearm inside the school premises.”
So, what’s the protocol? A man in body armor displaying a rifle and heading toward a school seems like a provocation.
“A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that the Border Patrol agents had difficulty breaching the door to the classroom, and were only able to enter when a staff member opened the door with a key.”
