Just a while ago my wife was watching a documentary on elephants in the other room and something made me remember the title letters and number in some collection of similar stuff in MAD Magazine or some other place that dealt with such nonsense.

It was the caption for a single-frame cartoon of a bunch of natives standing around a stack of bones.

Any idea where that might have come up? Is it familiar to you? Know any others?

I don’t understand your question and it’s not clear what your thread title has to do with it.

Wherever it was that I saw it there were other examples like it.

This one translates to “We have eaten the elephant.”

Trying to Google for it has proven difficult. So I thought I’d ask if others may have seen it and if so, where.

One morning I watched a documentary on elephants in the other room. How they got into the other room I’ll never know.

Groucho must have done it.

Oh frack!

Is it C D C ? by William Steig

It wouldn’t surprise me if Steig’s work was at least an influence on whomever I remember seeing, but I believe it must have been some humor or games magazine or website, most likely from the days before the internet.

Games Magazine has occurred to me since I did the OP. In any case, thanks for your possibility.

Click on “Look Inside” on Amazon’s page for C D C? … It’s there.

By Jove, you’re right! That’s it! Thanks for the pointer.

The only one I know is 7jbfssc. Does anyone else know that one?

It took me a bit to figure out what “u c m” was. I figured out “m”, but I forgot that German Js make the same sound as English Ys.

I’m still puzzling over it, help!

It took me a while, too.

I suspect there must be some common source for all these things. This is great!

I’ll bite. No idea!
