Van lifer goes missing on cross country trip with fiancee

I picked up on this a few days ago.

I guess he saw the opportunity to get his name back in the news.

Just because Fox News has the word “news” in it, doesn’t mean it is. So unless some other outlet has picked it up…

True. It smacks of desperation. Of course, now that I’ve said it, Dog will be the one that finds him.

I’ve heard about Dog jumping into the search on ABC news broadcasts, for what it’s worth.

The Laundrie family doesn’t welcome Dog on the case. He went to their house and knocked on the door to talk to them, and they called the police on him.

Yeah, he’s apparently pitching the rationale that he’s looking to bring their son back alive, while the police will gun him down like a mad dog. Because that happens to middle-class white male 20-somethings in high-profile cases all the time.

Oh sorry cochrane, I had missed your post.

Don’t be too sorry since they also missed an even earlier post on it. Funny irony.

Oh no, that means I missed it twice.

I swear I thought I was paying better attention.

Meh. It’s a fast moving thread with hundreds of posts. :man_shrugging:

Where is this list?

Have the authorities released a list of ‘persons of interest’ and there was only one name on it (Brian Laundrie)?

Or is he the only individual you have heard reported to be a person of interest?

Maybe he had no idea he was being sought–I wouldn’t bet on it but the thing is–you have no way of knowing either way. or perhaps it had crossed his mind but was in no way ‘clear’?

Also, did you know that totally innocent people sometimes retain lawyers?

Magiver, I’m afraid I have to move you down a few spots on: “My Very Most Favorite Potential Jury Members” list.

I don’t know about “apprehended” but considering he ain’t D.B. Cooper or Malaysia Airlines Flt 370, he’ll be comin’ on home for sure. If it’s within the next month he’ll be coming either in the back of a police car, or the back of a coroner’s van.

Any later than that it’ll be JFK, LAX, or MIA. He’ll either come cuffed from the back of the plane, or nailed into pine down in cargo.

I apologize for the multi- posts. To be honest, I have respond to other posts as I read them and am still thinking of them because I forget the contents o quickly. Sorry.

I am so curious? Do you remember what body part? Or is that too ghoulish? I have to see this! Can you point me to the report?

And, consider this: since Gabby’s body was already found 1000’s of miles from Florida this could only mean that Laundrie removed some part of her body and took it home with him, possibly as a trophy. Creepy!

I can’t believe this!

I don’t think the FBI said anything about what might have been found but just that they asked for items that might allow for DNA matching. And they asked for this stuff a couple of days ago.

Oh, like hairs from a brush or saliva on a toothbrush? Much more reasonable, I’d have to say. Who said body parts? Sort of leaping to conclusions. A lot of that going around.

Am I the only one who thinks this is all being sensationalized way out of proportion? Even here on the Dope?

There’s another exciting manhunt, um, womanhunt in the news.

German authorities are searching for 96-year-old Irmgard Furchner, who was due to go on trial for her alleged role in Nazi concentration camp atrocities, but is now described as being “on the run” (or at least a slow walk).

No word on whether she’s a survivalist capable of dodging authorities in the wilds of Germany.

In some parallel universe out there they are on the run together.

Right. That is largely my point.

I have no problem holding him without bail IF the government can plead facts that support probable cause to accuse him of a serious crime like a homicide or evidence that he fled in the face of a warrant that he knew about. I’m on board with that.

I do have a problem with “We either don’t have evidence of the serious crime or don’t want to tell you about it, so we will peruse the federal code and find a bullshit minor crime to charge him with and use his legal and constitutionally protected activities to make an inference that he is a flight risk.” I feel that is dangerous to everyone’s liberty.

The cynic in me says that Dog only got involved because of the $30,000 reward.
