Variations in Daily Temp

Yesterday was 91 F. Today was 54 F. Sweating in shorts/tshirt one day, Jacket and boots the next. What is the greatest 2 day temperature variation you’ve personally experienced.

When I lived in North Dakota back in 1993 there was a week stretch where the temp was hovering at -70 F (actual temp not wind chill) and then it went up to 10F. So I guess my answer is the last day of the cold blast was -72 and then up to 10. Never has 10 degrees felt so warm.

A few years ago I spent most of one summer in San Fransisco. Every other weekend I would fly home to Georgia. Leaving the 50 degree temps of SF for the mid 90’s of Georgia was a killer. Since my body never got an opportunity to adjust to the GA heat, I spent most of my weekends home indoors.

In a span of 4 minutes (not just 24 hours), one hot August afternoon (a couple of years ago), I was driving on a stretch on I-15 from Victorville, CA to San Bernardino, and as we were approaching the top of Cajon Pass, we drove under a thunderstorm with a WICKED down draft.

My suburban has a temp gauge on it and the temperature was at 105 F, and when we drove through the Thunderstorm, it got down to 58 F…pretty neat to watch the gauge plummet that quickly (almost 1 degree every 5 seconds on average). I just had to roll down the windows to enjoy that blast of cool air and rain! Only minutes later, the temp climbed back up to 102 F on the other side.

I won’t forget that storm for for a while!

A couple Junes ago, here in SF it was 102 one day and 61 the next. Gotta love that fog.
