VCR alert--'Bedazzled' on AMC tonight

The original with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook.

This movie has been out of print for a number of years, so if it’s been a while, here is your chance.

Cool. Now I can introduce Moore and Cook to my 12 year old. He’ll love it. Thanks for the heads-up.

When I was younger the local station would plug it as a Raquel Welch movie, so I kept skipping it. Then I learned that Cook and Moore were the REAL stars so I watched it. Once. Never got another chance. Still won’t, cuz I don’t have cable.

Been boycotting the remake. I don’t even mind Fraser or Hurley, but the original was so good.

I love that movie. Too bad I just decided to stop paying for cable.

The best part is the scene dancing around the phone booth. You feel real sympathy for the devil from that. The remake didn’t even try to explain Satan’s motives.

Rats!

I thought you meant that infomercial where the insane crafts lady spends a whole hour embedding tacky fake jewels on a jean jacket with that “Beadazzler” gadget.

I’d tape it myself, but it starts at eight and Ken Burns’ JAZZ starts at nine. Figures…haven’t wanted to tape anything in years, and then I hit two on one night.

Incidentally, once the Hurley/Frasier version of BEDAZZLED was released last fall, the 1967 original finally came out again on videotape. My local vidshop carries it; we all watched it about a month ago, and my 10-year-old duaghter (who loves devil stories) just rented it AGAIN. I caught her taking notes during the Raquel Welch scenes.

If the real Bedazzled is back in print, I know what my mom can buy me for my birthday. She’s the one who introduced me to Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, back in the 1970s.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mjollnir!

THERE WILL BE MORE THAN ONE SHOWING!

According to my cable guide for Chicago, it will be on twice tonight: at 7 PM and 11:30 PM. It will also be broadcast on Jan. 21 at 4:30 PM.

I saw the tape going for $9.99 at Critics’ Choice video. It should be available in many places for that price or less.

What was the devil’s motive? I only saw the new one. In fact, I did not know there was an old one. May sound bad to you, but I had a friend who thought Aladin was a Disney original.
