I always recommend comedy magician Mac King’s show at Harrah’s. If you watch P&T’s “Fool Us” you’ve probably seen him.
It’s a relatively small and inexpensive show, but it’s a ton of fun. Matinees only as it’s marketed to families, but it’s not a kiddie show.
Looks like he’s dark until at least April 1st though. I won’t be surprised if it’s longer, and I also won’t be surprised if your Vegas trip doesn’t happen as scheduled.
But go see Mac King when you do go!
Yes, I recommend Mac King, too. WRT showbiz glitz, he’s the opposite end of the spectrum from Cirque du Soleil, but fun, entertaining, and inexpensive. And you can almost always get even cheaper tickets from Tickets4Less.
That’s assuming he’s going to be performing at all, and that anything in Vegas is going to be open for business.
Siam Sam: us your hotel still open? Are your flights still on? Are you having any second thoughts?
My wife and I were planning to take a long weekend trip to Savannah, GA, this weekend, about a four-hour drive, but we reluctantly cancelled, even though most of what we would have been doing would have been walking around outdoors. But I’m 64, she’s almost 60, and she’s worried we’d be at risk.
Many Las Vegas casinos are closing. Even the slot machines are shut down. It is a virtual ghost town. I’ve heard it said that where you might expect to see 100,000 people you might only see 200.
Very hard times ahead for the thousands of people who work for tips; even though the bigger properties will continue to pay them, their pay is basically minimum wage with 80% of their income coming from tips.
There are many great suggestions here already. I’ll add going to the top of the Stratosphere — at night — for the view. Vegas at night is a wonder to behold, and the view from atop the Stratosphere is very nice.
Also the view of the Bellagio fountains from atop the Eiffel Tower, again at night, is also nice.
I saw both the Beatles LOVE show and Criss Angel when I was there. Both were spectacular I stayed at the Luxor hotel, which had a Titanic exhibit and Bodies. Both are traveling though I believe, so chances are they aren’t there anymore. I’m sure similar exhibits are though, and they’re much cheaper than the big shows.
Start unarranging now. Las Vegas is closed for at least the next 30 days. All casinos, bars, restaurants, and most hotels will be shut down by 6pm Wednesday night. All gaming machines are shut down at midnight tonight.
First time I was in Vegas, I got off the bus and walked less than a block before a policeman kindly escorted me back to the Trailways station with strong advice to not walk his streets again. I’ve been less than enthusiastic about the place ever since. If it’s closed now, good. Valley of Fire SP is freer.
Okay, I’ll bite: when and why? Were you carrying an assault weapon? Naked? (Actually, I’m not sure either of these things would have that effect. But I only lived in Vegas for five years, 2013-2018.)
Valley of Fire is high on my list for a visit, though I guess it depends when I get there. I’d really like to see Vegas this year, but if I can go as soon as summer, that is not a fabulous season to visit VOF.
Not at all, just very busy during the week. But the trip is now officially off. Our hotel is closed – not to mention the rest of Vegas – while the company we booked to send us is now prohibited from sending anyone anywhere through next month. So we are getting a full refund and will try again some other time. Disappointing, but that’s the way it goes.
Thanks for the suggestions. This page is bookmarked, and I’ll come back to it. Will probably try April 2021, as we want to go in the spring.
