Right - as my mother says “Old age is not for sissies.” But there’s a really strong correlation between your lifestyle (especially diet & exercise) and the quality of life past 65 or 70. Few people in their 20s pay a high price for bad habits; almost everyone past 60 does.
This is a fallacy. Let us say age 70-80 does suck- infirm, hard to get around, hospital bills ect. But for someone leading an unhealthy lifestyle, 60-70 or even 50-60 sucks instead. If you aren’t taking care of yourself it isn’t “healthy happy middle age, then death”, it is more like “unhealthy, unhappy middle ages, then a decline, then an early death”. It doesn’t cut off the last decade of your life so mcuh as shove that last decade down one. You get old, then die same-o, same-o, just that a healthy person can stave that off by a decade.
My point was that the concentration of toxins is higher in animal fat, so that it could be more dangerous. We really don’t know, however, how it affects life-span. I’m not a vegetarian, but I’m not sure I’d change that if we knew.
The “could-may-might-maybe-can” factor on most websites about vegetarianism being better for a person is through the roof. There’s very few uses of the definite “will.”
I am half right on life style. I am 65 soon. I play 8 or 9 hours of racketball every week. I walk my beagles in the park at least 2 miles every day. Sometimes 8 m0r 9.
My wife cooks UFOs. Unidentified frying objects. She relies on a George Foreman Grill and slaps meat or fish on it and watches TV. Overcooked meat is our mainstay.
I do eat a lot of oranges ,bananas and veggies though.
I am far from weak and infirm.
Our racketball group has played together for more than 25 years. One of our players is 78 and still moves pretty well. Several are around 70. They are healthy and strong.
The group is about 15 to 20 members. It varies in golf season and some winter in Fla. But they all are reasonably sharp mentally and physically. Some can only play doubles. But they still get a real good workout 3 times a week. I think exercise is a bigger factor than diet. We are omnivores after all.
You get an A+ on your knowledge of modal auxiliaries.
We are omnivores. You would have to take something to balanmce out your diet.
