Veins on my forehead after exercise...

I was extremely unfit for a long time, have now slimmed down and am trying to get regular exercise. I have (I presume everybody has) these two little veins on the sides of my forehead, which kind of wind their way down to my temples, and they stand out when I’m exercising hard. It’s cardiovascular stuff I’m doing, mainly X-trainers. The vein I’m talking about is the one that always used to stand out on your geography teacher’s head when you made him REALLY angry.

Anyway, they seem to be taking an awfully long time to go away these days. I still have them standing out a little today, and I went ot the gym yesterday. I’m also slightly freaked out because I was aware of a faint pain around the left of my head, coming from vaguely where the vein is. But then I bumped my head more or less there some time ago, so I put it down to that.

So I just wondered if anybody had any idea whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing that the veins are there so much now. And whether the pain, which has now reduced to a very faint sensitivity, is a trouble sign.

Thanks.

Perfect description. I don’t know about it from a medical standpoint but I do know that the same thing has been happening to me (without the pain) for over 20 years of working out and I’m ok.

It happened to me too, when I made some sustained effort in hot weather.

I too would be curious to know why (and how) these particular veins become so prominents.

I have no idea of the medical implications but being a gym rat I can tell you it’s common.
