So I ride the DC Metro every day, from Virginia Square on the Orange Line to Navy Yard on the Green. And a few times a month, I see these guys on the Green line go from car to car carrying what looks like a wooden spice rack with a few dozen little bottles of different colored liquids. It looks like they offer those bottles to the women on the trains, but I’ve never actually seen someone buy it. What are they selling?
I used to ride the Metro (2007-2008) almost every weekday, and never saw them, though I rode the Blue line.
I can’t speak for DC, but I’ve often seen people selling essential oils and natural perfumes (patchouli and such) that are usually in small colored bottles.
I also have seen African-garbed guys selling that, along with incense.
I’ve seen them. They’re breaking the law, BTW.
Yes. I’m less annoyed by the wannabe entrepreneurs than by the beggars and the fraud artists who I used to see selling dead AA batteries for people’s Walkmans.
