Venezuelan legislature approves Chavez' reforms (abolishing presidential term limits)

Story here. It still needs to be approved by a referendum. Critics say Chavez is trying to make himself a president-for-life like Castro. (Bet now they wish they hadn’t boycotted the 2005 election.)

Will the voters approve it?

If so, what does this mean for Venezuela’s future? Will Chavez still be president 10 years from now? Will the opposition parties be permanently marginalized, as in Mexico under the PRI from 1929 through 2000?

I guess that is up to the electorate who keep voting for him and approving of his proposals in referenda.
