Vessel blowout?

Sometimes I get these 8 hour+ hangovers where I puke every 15 -30 minutes. A lot of times while vomiting I get a strong pulsating pain in my left temple that will get worse when I lay back down. I think it gets worse then because of increased blood flow and pressure when I go horizontal. But I’m wondering if all that intraabdominal pressure during my puke sessions could put enough strain on a brain vessel to cause an aneurism or brain hemmhorage. That really worries me( I know, I know, stop drinking . I’m working on it) :smack:

On your heart, or what else?
It’s your choice!
STOP (drinking) or puke your brains out.

QtM will provide a more authoritative answer but yes, increased abdominal pressure can cause a stroke or burst blood vessel. That’s why some folks die while sitting on the crapper pinching a loaf. Fighter pilots use the exact same strain to increase blood pressure to the head. My wife, TheLadyLion, is the professional concerning alchol and other drug abuse but from a layman’s point of view it appears you may have a serious alcohol problem. Get professional help. This may not be a matter of being able to quit by choice.

Bhopal 20 years on – could it happen here?

Exaactly what does the Bhopal industrial accident have to do with isomurr’s drinking?

You’re more likely to cause a Malory-Weiss tear in your esophagus, from the prolonged vomiting. Alcoholism leads to cirrhosis (hardening) of the liver, which leads to varicosities (enlargement) in the esophogeal vessels, leaving them suceptible to rupture.
Alcoholics are more prone to bleeding as well. The liver is involved in the complex mechanism of clotting. Therefore, stroke is also a risk.

Pressure vessels. It’s a metaphor.

Uhh

This happens often?
