Vice Magazine

Am I the only one on this message board who cannot live without the wit of Vice Magazine?

Basically, a magazine for hipsters but, it appeals to a wide variety of people.

While it does have its downsides, like their blatant misuse of the word “gay”, “fag” etc. and their abundance of ads, it makes up for it with its great content.

The reason for the ads is because the magazine is free, you’d most likely find it at some obscure “chic” fashion store, a coffee shop or a record store (where I get mine). But, considering the number of ads, it doesn’t have many more than a usual magazine and it still manages to make a very high quality magazine and not lose any money.

Also, they can be nice enough to give you a yearly subscription for $25 (the cost of shipping).

Anyone else out there a fan?

Bump. I noticed I sounded like a commercial.

No takers, eh?

I knew this thing was “underground”, but jeez.

I read it. I sometimes tire of the relentless hipster 'tude, with the incredibly annoying more-gonzo-than-thou tone. The Do’s/Don’ts are generally good for a chuckle at someone else’s expense, but that’s hardly innovative. I do enjoy their fashion spreads though.

I used to read it when I lived in Montreal… liked the record reviews, dos/don’ts, and graffiti spreads. Couldn’t give a shit about fashion… if I have to dress up, it’s not my revolution.

Their attitude would get on my nerves sometimes too, but I could never exactly pin down why, so I didn’t think about it too much. Guess I’ve known a lot of people who are like that in real life and found them to be, on the balance, OK people.
