Dog owners are pretty shitty; I guess you’ve noticed it (in real life, and in this thread).
Have you considered a Velo-Dog?
You know WHO ELSE has the capacity to kill or seriously injure people?
Who?
Scooby dooooooo!

Dog owners are pretty shitty; I guess you’ve noticed it (in real life, and in this thread).
Do dogs like fruitcake? If so, I think I’m seeing the reason for the reaction the OP is getting from the neighborhood dogs.

Just be careful of viscous dogs. They can slip free.
And Vichy dogs, those collaborating bastards.
I agree with the general attitude of the OP. Too many people think that dogs have a ‘right’ to be frightening, to threaten attack, to growl, bark, strain, slobber, etc. because dogs have a right to be there.
Why? I think your pleasure in having a dog sometimes overwhelms your ability to empathize with the people you encounter with that dog. I just don’t think you can say, reasonably, “we are in a public place, and if my dog snarling and straining at the leash to get at you bothers you…go back indoors and leave the street to me.”
Many dog owners seem blind to the real anxiety caused by their ‘pets’. Or, are they? Methinks that many of them enjoy it.

Do you think the dog may get away from its owner and rape you?
Possible threat of dog attack =/= RAPE
DOG=/= HUMAN PREDATORthe dog is not a RAPIST who is seeking out potential VICTIMS. A DOG is reacting to YOU, and your behavior and reaction to it.
The assumption that people, human beings, should have to put up with the aggressive reaction of a dumb animal in a public place is telling. Shake your head a few times to clear the webs, people. Any dog that threatens a human is asking for trouble, and the owner of that dog is getting a little thrill from seeing other people frightened of his ‘pet’.
Even the nicest dog owners are sometimes blinded to the nuisance their dogs present. No, even if Fido doesn’t snarl at me, he still pisses on my bushes when he is running loose, and makes me swerve my car to avoid hitting him, and have to chase him away from my back yard where he is trying to catch the birds and squirrels. And I worry about your dog’s safety, that someone might use him for target practice, or run over him, or take him down the road five miles then turn him loose…
And, I watch them ‘walking the dog’ in the snow at 5 a.m. then chasing him down when he slips out from the garage where he stays during the day while worrying about being late for work…or calling all around to all the neighbors to find out if anyone has seen their male dog who is trying to find that scent of a female in heat…
Dog owners are a pretty strange lot. couldn’t raise their kids right, they don’t ever call, so they get a dog that treats them like God. Strange people.
;);););)

a dog on a leash who STRAINS WITH ALL ITS MIGHT To get loose with AN OBVIOUS INTENT TO ATTACK an innocent human
is indeed irresponsible behavior on the part of the dog owner
You’re a moron. The vast majority that strain on their leashes when they see someone on a walk are doing it because they want to get a pet from THEIR NEW BESTEST MOST GREATEST FRIEND (this is how dogs think, ya dig?). I think it’s highly unlikely you’ve ever met one that wanted to attack. And if it did, it was likely because you were making some kind of threatening motion towards the dog’s master.
My dog is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, but you if you act threatening towards ME, she WILL jump in between us and make sure you hear just HOW LOUD she can bark and snarl.
This thread is a bit nonsense. It is not that animal’s fault. It is the owner’s fault to not train the animal. Who knows that they might be a military breed? Who knows if they faced extreme animal abuse as a puppy? Who knows if they were attacked by every human while they were just roaming at streets? Animal psychiatrists barely exists , we will never know if their mental state is not insane cause of their past issues.
We all like to put blame on thing that tries to act “hostile” towards us. You’re talking about a fucking pistol…yeah I’d love to shoot a dog that just growled at me cause I was walking near someone else’s house at midnight. I’d also like to apply most “lethal force” at it when I’m barked at.

AIM at the threatening dog – actually FIRE if the hold on the leash is released
If you aimed a gun at my leashed dogs, I’d call the police and report that. You’d get to explain that to the police. My dogs bark their effin heads off and everything that walks by, they choke themselves trying to get pull away from me. When the police show up and we all sit and talk about this, they’ll be jumping on you and the police and licking everyone and having a grand time, as I suspect the other dogs would as well. If you actually killed one or both of my dogs it won’t end well for you.
If you aimed at one of my dogs and I was the type of person who carried a concealed weapon, I’d pull out my gun and kill you before you made a decision about what to do.
I’m not going to take the risk that you might miss and hit me, that you might miss and hit my house where my daughter is watching TV, that you might miss and hit some other random person, that you’re mad about the dogs barking and just planning to kill me or that you’re just some crazy lady randomly pulling a gun on me for some unknown reason. Again, if you aim a gun at me and I have mine, you’ll die first if I can’t defuse the situation in the first few seconds.
Think about that before you go buy a gun…are you prepared to lose your own life over a barking dog.
I would love to see a video of these dogs straining at leashes trying to rip the throat out of every passerby.
I’m betting on these being hyper, ill-mannered dogs who’ve never been taught to walk on a leash. They may be super excited to see people and are barking and pulling because they’re so happy to be out and about, or they may be barking and pulling because they’re actually stressed and afraid.
Mostly they are doing it because no-one has ever taught them a different way.
MOST (not all - I’m not that blind) dogs are not aggressive in the way that a predator is aggressive. Aggression is complicated, and can be inadvertently taught as their owners try to baby their sweetums through life.
To the OP - when you encounter these terrifying-to-you dogs, just move away. Don’t look at them (staring can = aggression in dog-talk) don’t be loud, just ignore them and take wider path.

The vast majority that strain on their leashes when they see someone on a walk are doing it because they want to get a pet from THEIR NEW BESTEST MOST GREATEST FRIEND (this is how dogs think, ya dig?).
And they always want to win over the person who dislikes dogs the most, the same way cats try to cure guests who are allergic to cats by latching into them like leeches. But these dogs may want to kill the OP because he’s annoying. It’s extreme but makes dog sense because they are idiots. Like six-year-olds.
LOL, agreed.
Dogs can be really sensitive to fear/anger vibes. If the OP is glaring at misbehaving dogs and wishing he could just pull a gun and shoot them (stupidest thing I’ve read in a long time, and that’s saying something) then sensitive dogs will pick up on that and feel threatened. If the dogs have any protective instincts for their own human, their reaction will be doubled.
Hope he contacts Animal Services as he said he was going to, and they give him a bit of education.

I’m betting on these being hyper, ill-mannered dogs who’ve never been taught to walk on a leash.
That’s all my dogs are. Hyper and untrained. Granted, my dogs are small and not all that ‘scary’ unless you’re scared off dogs, but even then most people, even those scared off dogs would probably be aware that good swift kick to the belly would stop mine (15# mini schnauzers) though I’d hope they wouldn’t do that. It certainly wouldn’t take a gun or even LTL force.
Even that big 60# black lab just want to come and put his paws up on your shoulders.
Maybe try just yelling over to the owner “Is he mean?” Most owners are pretty honest and will reply with something like “Nah, he just wants to play with you” or “He growls at everything that gets near the house but he won’t hurt you” or even “He doesn’t really like people, but don’t worry, I’ve got him”
But I’d strongly suggest you find a new route before you buy a weapon. And if you’re encountering these dogs everywhere…it’s you, not them.

Who knows that they might be a military breed?
What’s a “military breed”? Anyway, I’d seriously doubt the animals in the OP’s (trolling) post were either military or police trained. Well-trained animals don’t act as the ones the OP described.

Do you think the dog may get away from its owner and rape you?
Hey, it COULD happen!
Now you’re going to keep the OP up at night worrying.
