video capture card

I am looking for a video capture card that will obtain stations above 140 or so. I have the ATI VideoWonder, but cannot record TV shows on some of the stations I desire. Anyone know of one?

Someone will probably come along and tell me I’m full of crap, but I’ll take a stab at this. Unless I’m mistaken, the channels above 140 are all digital, whereas every video card I’m aware of can handle only analog cable signals - they have standard NTSC tuners, just like a “cable-ready” TV. While you may have digital cable, when you’re looking at channel 4, you’re actually watching an analog cable channel. When you’re watching channel 210, you’re watching a digital channel, and it’s being pulled from the cable by your set-top box. So, if you’ve connected your digital cable to your video card, it can “tune” to the lower channels, since they’re analog, but not the higher ones.

Until someone starts producing video cards with digital tuners in them, I believe the only way to record from the digital channels (or to watch them on your PC) is to use a digital tuner (like the set-top box provided by your cable company), and route its S-video output to the S-video input of the video card (if it has one - some do, some don’t).
