Does anyone know of a good converter that will work with Win98 NOT SE…I need to convert some asf and wmv files and have been unable to find a program that works.

Convert them to what?
Try TMPGEnc if you need to convert to MPG, or VirtualDub to convert to an AVI format.
Hmm I have a similar question, is there a way to decompress DiVX to DVD format? I have uh… some backup DiVX files that I’d like to put back onto DVD cause I lost my original disc. coughcough
Well, if you have the original DVD and would like to make a “backup” you can use DVD X Copy. If you only have the DivX files, you can use a program like Nerovision Express or TMPGEnc. I would recommend TMPGEnc because when Nero converts AVI to MPEG it tends to lose audio/video sync, which is very annoying.
DivX uses lossy compression, so even of you expand a DivX file to fit on a DVD, you won’t gain any quality whatsoever. So unless you absolutely have to watch them with a DVD player, you might as well just burn them to CD-R and watch them on your computer.
A DVD player should play VCDs so he could make VCDs. Newer DVD players also play DivX.
I’ve had the same problem with TMPGEnc. They recommend splitting the audio portion off (with e.g. VirtualDub), encoding the video, then joining them back together when you burn the DVD.
