Video to CD conversion

Search yielded nada, but it also didn’t like CD (too short). Anyway, I’ve got two 5 minute commercial type VHS videos that we’d like to put on a CD to play using any of the standard formats: .wmv, .avi, etc.

Is there a simple means of taking my spare 4 head VCR and connecting it to my PC and accomplishing this task?

Many thanks.

You want to be looking for “Encoding” software, and you’ll be needing a TV capture card in the PC.

The TV Card accepts the signal and allows you to record it, mine puts it into an AVI file with almost no compression. If you’d like to make it a more managable size you’ll need re-encoding software

I could be wrong, but I think the DivX sofware package includes the nessesary gear.

As mentioned, you’ll need something like a video capture card (or, more expensive, an external device). I don’t think there’s any way of doing what you want to do without one, on a standard PC. If you buy one, it’ll probably come with software that you can use to do what you want to do.

Thanks, gentlemen. Now I’ve got to investigate cost of same versus jobbing it out to a vendor who has it.
