Videos That Make You Go 'Holy Crap!'

This isn’t a video but this is the most viscerally scary thing I’ve seen on the Internets, so it’s worth a link. I say “Holy Crap!” almost every time I see this photo and my process of thinking goes:

  1. This can’t be real, it’s a photoshop, right?
  2. Do some research to make sure it’s not a photoshop
  3. Void bowels.

I think I’ll go back to just plain “Holy crap!” reactions (as opposed to the “Oh dear Og, someone DIED in this”). Since I’m a horse racing buff, here are some of my favs:

Secretariat’s insane Belmont Stakes performance, as it appeared live on TV at the time

Even the announcer reacted to this one–Ready’s Echo “Comes from another county” in the final jumps

And, oof. This is definitely the biggest “Holy crap!” in my YouTube Favorites folder. It’s a country pleasure driving class at an Arabian horse show. (Country pleasure = horses with some knee action, in this case, while pulling a light buggy) FTR, no one, horse or human, was seriously injured. The idiot who jumped in front of a panicked horse (WTH? as a horseperson, they sure as hell should have known better than that) was not badly injured.

This has been discussed to death in the horse forums; IIRC, the initially offending horse had been stung by a bee or some similar random event. He was a previous division champion and had never acted like that. He went on to other shows to continue in his success.

Wow, I don’t even have the nerves to drive that fast in video games.

I can’t figure why he even feels the need. Ain’t nobody gonna pass him on that road…

Yup, it’s real.

That one pisses me off.

Normally what pisses me off about plane crashes is the loss of a beautiful aircraft. (Not that the DHC-4 is very attractive, but most aircraft are beautiful in their own way.) Or stupidity pisses me off, like when that little girl was going for a record and tried to take off from a high-altitude airport in wet weather (increases density altitude) in an over-gross Cardinal, which is known to be underpowered. What irks me about this videos is all of the yahoos claiming it’s fake. All they have to do is search on the N-number (N400NC) to verify that it did crash. But even when presented with evidence they still shout ‘FAKE!’

I’ve seen that link, and the Wiki photo and description too. I’ve climbed this barehanded, so my head tells me it’s real. My groin tells me, to borrow a phrase from the OP: “HOLY CRAP!”

It’s obviously real but it’s hard to imagine that the person with the camera was the pilot’s father. There’s a break in the tape and then he keeps shooting and says “I cannot believe it. It’s all over.” with little to no emotion in his voice. Everyone is different but I would have expected to hear screaming and crying.

I was just thinking that - pretty stoical response to witnessing such a catastrophe. Unlikely to have been the pilot’s Dad speaking at the end IMHO.

I didn’t hear the ‘father’ part when I first saw this video, and it didn’t register when I read it here. I’m talking about the people who claim the crash itself is fake. Not so much on this particular YouTube page, but a couple/few years ago half of the comments I read were saying it’s CGI.
