So I’m up late with insomnia, and amusing myself by touring around Cuba by Google Map views.
Every photo of Cuba is laced with incredible old automobiles, but this one in particular struck me as beyond cool. Check out the 70’s egg mobile in this pic.
The photo is 360 degree, so click and drag around and see the ones behind you as well.
Another problem is that almost none of the older cars are anywhere close to original.
Due to replacement parts not being available most have been modified with things like Russian tractor engines, and due to the salt air most have serious rust problems and loads of Bondo.
Things like brake fluid are hard to come by, so you will see home-made brake fluid used in the brakes, etc.
They look great at a distance, but can look rough close up.
I have owned about 20 collector cars, but I think the majority of the Cuban cars would be difficult to make safe and somewhat original.
