I just read that Vince Neil from Motley Crue was given a DUI in Las Vegas over the weekend…
Now I know the name Motley Crue, and have heard of Vince Neil, but really don’t know any details about their music or what Vince Neil is like as a person.
In the article it states that VN just sat for an interview with Rolling Stone last week where he claimed to have been sober for the last several years and said he has completely put his wild days behind him. Fine, if he wants to lie to some rock and roll journalist about his lifestyle, more power to him.
The kicker is that about 20 years back Vince Neil was driving with a buddy of his (both were drunk) when he lost control of his car and wrecked it. His friend (the passenger) was killed. Vince Neil only spent 20 days in jail for this stunt.
The guy can afford a $160,000 car (he was driving a Lamborghini when he was pulled over late saturday night) but he won’t spring for a 30 dollar cab ride?!?
He KILLED someone (a friend no less) because he was driving drunk several years back, and he escaped with only a slap on the mollyfocking wrist—Obviously he didn’t learn much of a lesson, and I hope the Vegas courts are not as understanding as the LA courts were in the past.
I am not usually a “All drunk drivers are worse than Hitler” kind of person, (SDMB has plenty of those already) but HE KILLED A FRIEND by driving drunk and recieved almost NO real punishment—How fucking clueless can this asshole be?!?
He also severely injured the people in the other car, paralyzing one woman for life, if I recall correctly. He paid more than $2M to the victims (in 1986 money), and said later in an interview that “I got away with murder,” and said he believed he should have gone to prison, but that he was able to buy his way out of it.
One can only hope that he doesn’t get to buy his way out of this one. No fatal accident, so there won’t be prison time, but a month cooling his heels as a guest of Clark County couldn’t be a bad thing.
Hanoi Rocks had a big influence on Guns N’ Roses. They borrowed not only from the sound, but took a lot from the look. You can see the similarities in look in this pic.
I’ve got nearly every issue of Creem from '79 to early '88 in my den at home - lately I’ve started scanning them so I’ll have digital copies in case they get too worn to read anymore.
Would a judge be more likely to throw the book at him considering the DWI fatality in his past?
I realise that legally that would not probably be an option, but judges are human and maybe they would try to “impress” Vince Neil with the idea that driving drunk isn’t going to be tolerated…
