Vines and Wine Making

I know that making wine is dependant on a particular area’s capacity to grow grapes. Duh! But. I know that place like in East Texas, there are vineyards and wine making. Now. With that in mind, is it possible to grow grapes and make decent wine in South Texas, particularly, McAllen, Texas? Make enough for personal and/or wholesale?

Well, there’s Haak wines near Galveston which isn’t that far away.

I know nothing about your area specifically but I do know that while you can get grapes to grow in many areas that don’t have optimal conditions, the grapes and subsequent wine will be sub-optimal.

In other words it is difficult to produce great wine from locally grown grapes if you aren’t in a prime grape growing area.

Yes, it’s possible.

This website should help if you have more questions.

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Try beer-making instead.
