Then please remove the need for a password.
I don’t actually know how to do that. If you’d like to post it, please do. Or if some other kind person would like to do so.
If you click on the link, you should get to the zoom meeting. Zoom embeds the password in the link.
I am cleaning up from yard work, and will be back shortly before 2PM Eastern Time.
I f I use the link, it loads the meeting but with my real name which I don’t want. If I start Zoom and select join a meeting, I can enter the meeting ID, password and desired username. There’s no need for a password for this meeting.
I don’t believe I can change that setting once I’ve created the meeting. And because this site doesn’t allow editing, and I’ve already posted a link, creating another meeting would be extremely confusing. I have switched my name in meetings, and I believe you can do that as soon as you join. I’m sorry, that’s definitely a disadvantage, but I don’t see any easy way to fix it right now.
But thanks for reminding me to change MY name. I did that by going to “manage participants”, then “more”, then “change name”. It’s probably slightly different if you aren’t the host. If anyone can quickly test that and give directions, that would be awfully helpful.
oh, hey, I can post just the meeting ID, which doesn’t linkify. Here’s the info from the invitation. ID down a few lines:

okay, I’m here, the meeting is open, and anyone who wants to join should be able to.
Spoiler Virgin, Jack Batty, needscoffee, and running coach are here. (And me)
Well, fewer people than last time, but we had a nice time. Everyone succeeded in using their Dope name, without incident. And everyone’s name was shown by their picture, which was nice.
But we all decided it was long enough, and I’m ending the meeting. Apologies to anyone who had hoped to join late.
Thanks for setting it up and hosting - it was nice to see everyone.
Sorry I missed. I wike up in the middle of a MASSIVE panic attack this morning and was out walking it off. I’m weary of walking in my neighborhood, so I went to an upscale outdoor “mall” that’s a long drive from my house. It’s the farthest I’ve physically been away from my house in 10 weeks. When I got there, it was jammed! A lot of the stores were closed, but there were lots of people with kids, strollers, dogs, dawdling on the beautifully landscaped walkways with fountains, decorative rocks, wicker chairs, etc. ONLY HALF of the people were wearing masks! WTF?? This isn’t redneck country-- this mall has a Nieman-Marcus, Nordstrom, Aveda, Tiffany & Co., FFS! What’s the matter with these people?? Needless to day, this did not help my panic attack. I shoulda stood at home. [/long story]
See y’all next time. When is next time?
Sorry I missed it! Actually busy at home for once.
Sorry I missed it. I had to work all weekend and haven’t been feeling well.
I will try to join the next one. I also think there should be more reminders in advance of the next one.
Also sorry I missed it! Ended up having a bunch of home-type chores to take care of during a narrow toddler-nap window.
Just checking to see if anyone has scheduled the next virtual Dopefest yet. I missed the last two due to other family obligations.
Someone on the last Zoom suggested individual threads for individual get-togethers. I’m not sure who’s supposed to be in charge of that.
I did the last one. I was undewhelmed with the interest level, and despite bending over backwards to accommodate some poster who didn’t want to just click on the zoom link, that poster didn’t bother to make a showing. So I’m not really feeling like organizing the next one.
Zoom worked fine, fwiw. And everyone who joined was able to display their user name, not their real name, for those who might have been concerned about that.
A suggestion, for whoever organizes the next one:
After a date and time is set, start a thread with the date and time of the Dopefest in the title. More people will see that.
Seconded. I would’ve attended if I’d known about it,
