Vista ephiphany

Something just hit my brain. You get a laptop with Vista. You don’t like it. You migrate back to XP. You’re happy.

Are you sure it isn’t because you’ve gotten rid of all the crapware that vendors like to put on new systems, and you did a CLEAN install of XP without the crap?

Just wonderin’.

Nah, my old laptop was slower. I hate Vista only because mine came with the “ZIP files take several minutes to unzip and install” bug, and it won’t play most of my old games.

I reckon that’s a factor, yes. A clean install of anything feels satisfying when you use it. It’s like the feeling you get when you’ve just given your house or a room a really good spring-clean.

edit: Darn you, you made me forget what I was on my way to doing when I clicked on your thread.

I’m told there are laptops that will only run Vista, because the mfr never wrote XP drivers.

And, yes, PC vendors have a horrid tendency to load new machines with crapware (Norton, Free! AOL!, etc etc) to questionably boost features.

Well, the PC Decrapifier takes care of all the junk that PC makers install on machines.

Still, I don’t think that you’re really on to anything. If you listen to any of Leo Laporte’s podcasts, you’ll hear a lot of sophisticated PC types saying that they aren’t wowed by Vista.
