Visual Thesaurus on line

I just had to share this very cool website.
http://www.visualthesaurus.com/online/index.html
Type in a word, and it gives you a spiderlike representation of that word’s relationships to antonyms, synonyms and related words. Click on the other words, and the field shifts to center around the new word.

I was posting a reply saying that is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, but it turned out the boards were undergoing daily maintenance so it didn’t get through.

Then I went back to the visual thesaurus and put my name in (Peter) and got a spider with ‘Tool’ ‘Dick’ ‘Cock’ ‘pecker’ ‘prick’. What is it trying to say!?

OMG, I think I´m in love!

This is just about the coolest Thesaurus I´ve ever seen, and believe me, I work with them things.

Great design! Though I must agree with Lobsang - it does have a tendency to turn naughty - or is it just me?
It got me from “toss” to “orgy” in five easy steps, and from “translation” to “roll in the hay” in fourteen…

Thanks for sharing, Mariemarie, this is great!

Maybe you should send this to TubaDiva, for a Weird Earl? <hint hint>

OOOh! More features I hadn’t noticed at first:

Try words like light, fire, black – words that have many meanings. Watch the new words spring into existence like the genesis of a galaxy! Pretty!

Okay. Now click-and-hold on the center word: you can drag it around like spaghetti on a plate! Impressive…

One more: Click-and-hold anywhere in the white space. The whole conglomeration rotates in 3-space, bringing the distant objects to the fore…

Cool! Keen! Peachy! Bully! Bang-up! Smashing! Nifty! Groovy! Swell! Dandy! Cracking! Corking! and Not Bad!
[To be fair, just, and sporting, I found this link on these fellows’ website: The Taters . Excellent band.]

Way too cool. I started by adding it to favorites on this (home) machine; then emailed it to myself at work so I can share it with my puzzle editors; then emailed it to half the people in my address book here.

Way, way too cool.

One unexpected thing that’s cool about it is how it behaves on different connection speeds. On a dialup modem it grows slowly and gracefully. On broadband it bursts into life.

OH

MY

GOD

Put ‘colored’ in!
