Volcano under yellowstone? What's the worst that could happen?

Hello, I just read this article here and I was wondering…

Now, this guys seems to really be spreading the doom around, but how much of what he is saying is true (in his speculation of what could happen)? If there was a volcanic eruption larger than St. Helens in Yellowstone, would it mess with most of the midwest? Would it be the end of the world as we know it? Would it just be a big cleanup process, but no real damage?

I’m just wondering. Hope it doesn’t happen regardless, but I’m wondering if anyone can backup this guys claims or is his a wacko.

The article’s written in a bit of a hysterical manner, but it’s potentially true nonetheless. Here’s more. Bill Bryson’s new book has a chapter dedicated to this subject too.

There’s a pretty good thread on the threat posed by yellowstone over in Great Debates: Yellowstone, is it going to blow? What would happen?

ah, thanks for that link, I never check that forum for some reason. Suppose this thread should be closed then.
