Does anyone know a good website for voter statistics? More specifically, my friend said that the U.S. actually has way more Democrats that Republicans, but not as many of them are registered, or actually vote. Any truth to that statement? I always figured the country was split about 50/50.
You will need to do some research. Voter registration is a state-level issue. And since all states do not require voters to register a party affiliation, your statistics will be incomplete.
In addition party affiliation does not equate with actual voting preferences because when it comes down to general elections voters choose whomever they choose (again, except in those areas where a voter party affiliation may mean their ballot only contains candidates from their party.).
WAG - What is probably a more set of meaningful statistics is where people stand on select issues, with liberal v conservative, and democrat v republican overlays.
