Vox? Valete? Globos meos lambe

Yes, this.

Hol-eeee Schmolies! Diane! I was just thinking of you the other day! (The exact thought was something along the lines of “Where the hell’s Diane been?” if you’re curious.)

OP, in this season of giving, I can only give your opinion the finger. I’ll sign off any and every goddamned post I want to!
Regards,
Tripler
I gotta agree with newcrasher, this Pit thread is lame.

you might want to read the whole thread first or your new post signing policy may end in a big surprise. Not jr modding you can do as you please…

There’s something about your latest post it seems less classy and distinctive somehow. I wonder what it is?

Gee, I hadn’t even noticed that post. Oh! It was Vox. What a sly fox slipping that post in there.

(Bolding mine)

Well, seeing as how my “policy” is not new, and doesn’t fall inside Skip’s definition, I think I’m okay. This “policy” may change later due to new rules, but for now, it’s pretty concrete to me. I drop my name, I add a relevant post-script. I’ve read the thread, and commented on the pettiness of the OP. My style is my style, and I ain’t changing it just because someone is “offended.”

That’s my read on the situation.

An appropriate and different sign-off for different posts?
I’ve got no problem with that.

Yup! Been doin’ it since 2000.

Awesome.

I wasn’t expecting a nod, but this is good to know.

Hiya! How have you been?

Every once in a while we need to be taken aside and enlightened about things we do or say that are not perceived as we intend.

For you, this is one of those times. Make the most of it.

Your latin sign off is pompous and ridiculous. I don’t know how you think it comes across…learned, studious, erudite… but it is pompous. In case I did not make clear, it is also ridiculous. I can’t think of 2 adjectives that better describe the act of closing each communication with an obscure latin conclusion. Pompous. Ridiculous

You can stamp your feet and be as petulant as you like. Perhaps you will insist on posting it once per thread. That will be once per thread that you assert your pomposity and ridiculousness.

However, a word, to the wise, is sufficient.

Just curious…what’s so appropriate and different about posting his name and a postscript that would fit just fine in the body of the post sans name? Seems a bit redundant considering his name’s at the top of the post and not germane at all to the meat of the post which is interrupted by his name.

You fucked up with your italicizing there, boss. The thing that annoys people about sigs is that they’re extraneous bit of a post that catch the eye, only to be essentially valueless. All this bitching about whether we’re having an online conversation versus an online correspondence is just window dressing for people who find it impossible to ignore extraneous information at the end of a post

It’s the appropriate bit that’s important.

OK. There, right there… what HE said. or…
“That.” As the cool losers here just love to repeat over and over and over.

I was going to make a similar post with an absurdly long “added-text” signature (as opposed to a standard sig that can be ignored by others) and then proceed to add that absurd signature to every single post I make from here on out. But then I thought for a moment about how the desperately bored and trigger-happy mods here would react to it.

I quickly realized that any silly 10-line “added-text” sig that I might choose to enter after EVERY SINGLE FUCKING POST would instantly be judged to be indubitably jerkish, trollish, and felonious by the mods, while the Usual Suspects would be free to continue their obnoxious polluting of my computer screen (even as they play lap basketball with [insert lame moderator here]).

The only reason that I would quickly be squashed, shit on by gnats, then banned, while the Usual Suspects wouldn’t be is that I’m not a member of the SDMB Koooool Kidz Klub (my nose done got no shit on it, and without the tell-tale brown color the simpletons can’t tell if I’m in Lockstep or not).

On a similar note-- isn’t it interesting that we are not allowed to post in any language other than English and yet somehow, an exception is made for Latin (which is not only foreignn language, but a dead one) merely because the intellectually desperate mods are so eager to prove that they could join Mensa (if only they could juuuust up that IQ score 15 points or so) that they giddily let the Latin slide-- breaking their own rules-- because DAMN! THEY’RE SMART!!! They took Latin for a semester in high school.

Get over it, and start enforcing your own rules.

Stick your head up your mother’s cooze, but leave room for your sister’s cock,

I Love Someone, And It Ain’t You

…wow

Indeed.

I look forward to the identification of the Usual Suspects. The two line “added text” sig was so annoying that I completely missed all of the ten line ones that those bastards have been using all over the place. That’s politics for you. The admins have probably been blocking those so I don’t see them. This might explain the delay in the search function. Sorry, everyone.

“This.”

:smack: Damn! I’ll NEVER be kool! Oh well, I actually love you all very much. Did I ever say otherwise? I don’t recall… my moods can change so quickly…

Maybe it runs in the family: my sister once sent me a postcard from vacation in Hawaii. Said-- “Having a Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Dead.”

I’m sorry, I usually hate it when people dismiss a long post with a nitpick, but I couldn’t pass that up. It’s not often I get to feel like one of the cool losers.

Hey, I think you should keep adding in your extra bits and pieces. I bet they are always really funny, and witty, and deep and meaningful and funny and deep and witty.

Tell the truth, you get about twenty private messages a day don’t you? From people who want to tell you how much they laughed at one of your message sign off’s, or from people who were inspired to reach that little bit further, to push that little bit harder, to dream the impossible dream, and all because in one line of text at the end of a relatively innocuous post you managed to throw everything into perspective…

…and change a life.

Dont stop, dont you dare stop.
