If it’s not one dern thing it’s another. Last week my car decided it didn’t need an exhaust, so it dropped it. $500. So that took care of any spare cash I had (thank-you car).
I get home yesterday and go to get water for the dogs I have in rescue. The tap made a gurgling noise, and that was it. This is no good I say to myself, and then I notice that I don’t hear the ever present noise of my old water pump working away (I have a well). Down in the basement to check if some dog has maybe just knocked the switch off. No, it’s on, it’s just not doing anything. Back upstairs to make sure the little fuse guy is on for the pump, yes it is.
Well you piece of poo, I don’t need this. After talking to a couple of places it sounds like it is going be a few hundred dollars at least to replace the pump. I don’t have a few hundred extra dollars, and I won’t have a few hundred extra dollars for at least 4 weeks (two pay periods).
And I know that some people don’t have running water at all, so shouldn’t be complaining, but yeeeesh. I have to walk down to the river to get water for the dogs (I tried to convince them they should just go down and get the water for themselves, but they thought I meant they should run away as fast as their little legs would take them, and roll in cow poo).
Plus the whole no water for bathing thing is no good (I am sure I can take a shower at a friends house).
Blah.
Well, that sucks. What are you doing for water to cook with? Is there no one you know that would float you a loan for the new pump?
I found some 2 litre bottles and this afternoon after work I will be heading out to see if I can find the spring that is some where in the next town over (I should probably just get water from a friend, but looking for the spring will be more fun).
About the loan…I even talked to the bank, but it seems after they have loaned a person lots of money for student loans they get a bit stingy about giving a person more money. I hate the idea of asking my friends for money.
At least you have a good attitude about it. “Hunting for water, ah! An adventure!”
Perhaps you can talk to the bank again, and make the loan on a very short term (6 months) basis?
Perhaps you should work outside this weekend and neglect to shower before visiting the bank and asking for money to replace the pump and allowing you to shower again.
At the least you can get the money out of their wallet when they faint from the odor.
I’ve returned from my water finding mission. Unfortunetly I failed to find the spring (despite directions from the local folks). I did see the neatest looking baby cow through (red & black coloured).
I talked to someone else today (the gas station man) who says it might just be that my well has run dry, it hasn’t rained here for awhile. The pump isn’t trying to run at all, but maybe it only runs if the water is at a certain level or something. So now I am hoping for rain.
The woman at the bank was pretty adament about not giving me any more money unfortunetly.
Last week I got in a dog from the local impound who was supposed to be put to sleep…because…his owner couldn’t housetrain him. This is no good without hot water. I think somone is testing me
