I have used them too. It’s always fun to see out of state attorneys look blank in response.
One NY attorney even tried to complain to the judge about this use of an archaic motion. Virginia judge was not happy with him.

This says that a motion craving oyer requires the plaintiff to produce a document referenced in their pleadings but not actually part of it (the pleadings.).
A profert says that the document is already in the court.
