Oh, good! She showed up! throws a kiss to M_M
Sorry, guys, I actually knew on the 2nd, but I didn’t feel like it was my news to tell. But I didn’t want y’all to worry, either, so that’s why I posted that she was okay, but “she doesn’t have time to post, dealing with family stuff”. 'Cause, y’know…it was true, only not entirely beans spilling.
But now that she’s said I could share - yippee!
Mouse_Maven:
The Highlights:
I had an epidural, and it made me a little loopy. The nurses put a blood gas sensor on my index finger. I was pointing with it and saying “Phone Hoooome.” I also asked how much we should tip the anesthesiologist.
Amazingly, I did not verbally abuse my husband. To busy pushing.
Heather was a little early. She also emerged slightly crooked. There were dents on her head from my pelvis. She had some mild breathing problems and jaundence. We were able to take her home on Wednesday; I stayed in the hospital to breast feed.
May be TMI: I was very worried about nursing the Mouseling. Turns out, I am well built for this task. Never in my life have I had so many compliments on my nipples! Heather is nursing well and its not painful for me.
What’s a post from/about me without some family drama! My mother is now persona non grata. She was very badly behaved.
She whined about not being there for the delivery. (It was just Ryan, me and the hospital staff. That was PLENTY)
When she visited, she got angry when the lactation consulted asked her to step out for a few minutes. “Why does he get to stay?” she exclaimed, pointing to Ryan.
“Daddies can help mom at home. This is difficult enough without an audience, please leave.” replied the nurse.
She was rude to some friends who visited.
Straw that broke this camel’s back: Mother planned a baby shower for this past Friday. With everything going on with Heather, I didn’t think about this. Mother got angry, called me and chewed me out on the phone about canceling on her. “I’m sorry your baby is sick,” she said bitterly. Then she called my MIL and yelled at her. Apparently, MIL had the audacity to suggest that Mother reschedule the shower later on.
I’m used to Mother’s behavior. I don’t like it, but I’ve been around it a long, long time. My MIL has always treated me with kindness and respect. She didn’t deserve to be berated by a crazy-ass bitch.
We have room in our life for only one immature, unpredictable person: our daughter.
The closest I have gotten to an explanation for Mother’s behavior is a text massage that said that she was still hurt from being excluding from the delivery. This is just sad . I know that planning any party is very difficult and stressful, but I would hope that my mother would be more concerned about the well being of her grandchild than the attendance of a shower.
So, life as normal, plus one new cutie! Congratulations again, M_M !
Another hearty congrats on the new addition to your family, M_M !
the year of the rat/mouse/other cute tiny rodent is next year.

WOO HOO! Mouse baby!

Mmmmm, baaaay-beeees… gglgglglglglglglgl.
All babies are precious and amazing, but yours is also beautiful! Congratulations! Here’s wishing you sleep!
I try to use this power wisely.
That nurse is a Hero, and deserves a dozen roses and a big box of chocolates.
Squee at the tiny feet; baby’s teensy fingers and toes are always my favorite part.
Come back to us soon, MM, and tell us many-many stories about your New Mommyness.
Even stories about your fabulous nipples. We wanna hear those, too.
Welcome Glow-Worm
Ahhhhh, makes funny faces, waves, cooos (and other appropriate baby gestures).
Congrats Mouse_Maven and Mouse_Spouse you’ve given the world a great gift!

Only the most sincere congratulations. I’m so happy to hear you’ve had a safe birth, and a healthy child. Looking forward to more and more pictures.
MM – much happiness & joy!
So…when will Mouseling/Glow Worm be registering for the SDMB?
Don’t be surprised if the baby sleeps on all fours. That’s what I did. It was comfy. Oh, and CONGRATS!
Congrats on a healthy little GlowWorm !
She’s beautiful.
